Experienced Operators Wanted.

MrKitt’s Service Center & Towing is seeking a skilled, dependable, and safety-focused Flatbed / Wheel-Lift Tow Truck & Recovery Operator to join our professional towing team.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for an experienced operator who can confidently operate both flatbed/rollback and wheel-lift towing equipment and handle assignments safely, professionally, and efficiently.

Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of verifiable professional towing and recovery experience and be capable of handling routine towing, accident scenes, vehicle recoveries, rollover vehicles, winching, wheel dollies, and double-hook assignments.

We need an operator who understands that proper vehicle securement, DOT compliance, equipment safety, customer service, and good judgment are essential parts of professional towing.

What You Must Bring to the Position:

• Minimum 3 years of verifiable professional towing and recovery experience.
• Must be experienced operating both flatbed/rollback and wheel-lift tow trucks.
• Must be proficient in the proper use of wheel dollies.
• Must be able to properly and efficiently perform double-hook towing assignments.
• Must have accident-scene and vehicle-recovery experience.
• Must have experience with rollover vehicle recovery.
• Strong winching and recovery skills.
• Thorough understanding of vehicle stabilization.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle securement and load distribution.
• Understanding of recovery positioning, angles, equipment capacities, and limitations.
• Valid driver's license.
• Clean driving record.
• Current DOT Medical Card.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background screening.
• Knowledge of applicable DOT regulations and safety requirements.
• Strong customer-service and communication skills.
• Must be a team player.
• Dependable, punctual, responsible, and professional.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Must follow company policies, safety procedures, and management direction.

Flatbed / Rollback Experience:

Operators must be fully capable of safely and efficiently operating flatbed/rollback equipment, including:

• Properly positioning the truck for loading and unloading.
• Operating the rollback bed, winch, hydraulics, and controls.
• Properly loading and positioning vehicles.
• Understanding weight distribution and vehicle placement.
• Using appropriate vehicle attachment and securement points.
• Properly using straps, chains, wheel restraints, and other securement equipment.
• Safely winching disabled or accident-damaged vehicles.
• Handling lowered, damaged, disabled, and specialty vehicles.
• Protecting customer vehicles from preventable damage.
• Double-checking all securement before moving the truck.

Wheel-Lift & Dolly Experience:

Operators must also have hands-on experience operating wheel-lift equipment.

You must be capable of:

• Properly positioning and operating a wheel lift.
• Identifying appropriate lifting points.
• Properly securing vehicles to the wheel lift.
• Using required safety chains, straps, and restraints.
• Determining when wheel dollies are necessary.
• Properly setting up and operating wheel dollies.
• Understanding drivetrain and vehicle configurations that affect towing procedures.
• Maintaining proper vehicle and ground clearance.
• Preventing unnecessary damage during hookup, transport, and release.

Wheel-lift and wheel-dolly experience are required—not preferred.

Double-Hook Experience Required:

Candidates must be able to properly, safely, and efficiently double hook when the equipment, vehicles, and assignment allow.

Operators must understand the additional considerations involved with double-hook operations, including:

• Equipment capacity.
• Vehicle weight.
• Weight distribution.
• Securement.
• Clearances.
• Turning and maneuverability.
• Braking and stopping distance.
• Overall truck handling.
• Road and traffic conditions.
• Applicable safety and DOT requirements.

Operators must inspect all connections and securement before moving and understand how the additional vehicle changes the handling characteristics of the tow truck.

Efficiency matters. Safety and proper securement come first.

Accident & Rollover Recovery:

This position requires actual accident and recovery experience .

Operators must be capable of responding to accident scenes and evaluating:

• Vehicle position and condition.
• Traffic and scene hazards.
• Recovery angles.
• Vehicle stabilization requirements.
• Appropriate winching and attachment points.
• Equipment capacity and limitations.
• Potential for additional vehicle damage.
• Need for additional equipment or personnel.

Rollover recovery experience is required:

Operators must know how to safely approach a recovery and, equally important, recognize when a recovery requires additional equipment, another operator, or a heavier recovery unit .

Safety & Vehicle Securement Are Non-Negotiable:

At MrKitt’s Service Center & Towing, there are no shortcuts when it comes to safety or vehicle securement.

Operators must understand and follow applicable DOT regulations, company safety procedures, traffic laws, and proper towing/recovery practices .

Drivers are expected to perform appropriate pre-trip and post-trip inspections and regularly inspect their:

• Flatbed/rollback components.
• Wheel-lift equipment.
• Wheel dollies.
• Winch and cable/rope.
• Hydraulic equipment.
• Straps and chains
• Hooks and attachment points.
• Wheel restraints.
• Lighting.
• Tires.
• Safety and recovery equipment.

Damaged, defective, missing, or unsafe equipment must be reported immediately.

No truck moves until the vehicle and equipment have been properly checked and secured.

Customer Service & Professionalism:

• Being a strong operator is about more than knowing how to move vehicles.
• Our drivers represent MrKitt’s Service Center & Towing every time they arrive on a scene.
• Operators must be professional, respectful, calm, customer-service-driven, and solution-oriented , especially when dealing with customers experiencing breakdowns or accidents.
• You must be able to communicate professionally with customers, dispatchers, management, law enforcement, emergency responders, repair facilities, property owners, fellow operators, and the general public.

Independent Operator — Team Mentality:

• We need operators who can work effectively with minimal supervision .
• You should be capable of receiving an assignment, assessing the situation, choosing the appropriate equipment and towing/recovery method, completing the job safely, documenting the assignment, and communicating with dispatch.
• At the same time, you must be a team player.
• Our operators are expected to communicate, cooperate, assist fellow drivers when necessary, and work together during complicated or multi-truck recovery operations.

What We're Looking For:

• Receive the call.

• Choose the proper towing/recovery method. 
• Safely hook, load, or recover the vehicle.
• Use dollies when required. 
• Properly double hook when appropriate.
• Secure everything correctly.
• Double-check the hookup.
• Safely transport the vehicle.
• Document the job.
• Communicate with dispatch.

We are looking for a professional towing and recovery operator—not simply someone who knows how to drive a tow truck.
